Find prospects in a niche and city

Search Google's local results for a kind of business in a city, and choose which ones to audit.

Freelancer, Agency and Scale · about 5 min · In the app: Find prospects

Steps

  1. Open Tools → Find prospects.
  2. Enter a kind of business and a city, for example “dentist” and “Austin”.
  3. Choose how many results you want and search.
  4. Tick the businesses worth a closer look, then audit them as a batch. A business with no website on its Google listing can't be audited, so it is worth a phone call instead.

What counts against your allowance

  • Searching is free. A business counts as one prospect when you audit it in a batch: 150 a month on Freelancer, 600 on Agency, 2,000 on Scale.
  • The Free plan shows a preview of five results with contact details hidden.
  • A prospect pack adds 100 prospects for a one-off payment, with no subscription. Your monthly allowance is used first, then the pack.

Getting useful results

  • Use the words a customer would search with: “emergency plumber” finds different businesses than “plumbing contractor”.
  • Search one city or suburb at a time rather than a whole region.
  • The usage meters at the top of the page show what is left this month.
